Hi, I’m Jonathon, a 17-year fantasy football commissioner at Masters Fantasy Football Leagues.<\/em><\/p>\n

Two weeks into an NFL season is when dynasty gets fun. Not because we suddenly know everything \u2014 we absolutely don’t \u2014 but because we finally have enough real NFL football to start questioning some of the things we believed in August.<\/p>\n

A player we loved in the offseason might suddenly look even better. A player we weren’t sure about might be producing like a superstar. And then there are the players sitting near the top of the fantasy standings who make you ask one simple question: Is this dynasty gold \u2014 or are we looking at fool’s gold?<\/strong><\/p>\n

That is the question I want to examine after Week 2. Not simply who is scoring fantasy points. We already know who is scoring fantasy points. The dynasty question is whether what we’re seeing can continue, because two weeks can change perception incredibly quickly.<\/p>\n

Here are five players standing out in our Masters scoring \u2014 and how I’m viewing them from a dynasty perspective.<\/p>\n

Tyler Shough \u2014 QB5<\/h2>\n

Verdict: GOLD<\/h3>\n

This one is getting harder to ignore. Tyler Shough currently sits as the QB5 in our scoring, and after watching the first two weeks, I don’t think this is simply a case of a quarterback getting hot for a couple of games.<\/p>\n

Shough looks the part. He has the arm. He can move. He can extend plays. And perhaps most importantly for fantasy football, he isn’t afraid to push the ball down the field.<\/p>\n

Baltimore defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver actually compared Shough to a “poor man’s Josh Allen,” specifically pointing to his arm talent, mobility, and ability to create outside the structure of the offense. Shough then followed that up by throwing for 252 yards and a touchdown while adding a rushing touchdown against Baltimore. That’s not a bad way to respond to the comparison.<\/p>\n

The surrounding talent makes this even more interesting. Chris Olave is starting to look like the legitimate WR1 that many dynasty managers hoped he would become \u2014 eight catches for 86 yards and a touchdown in Week 2. Then there is Jordyn Tyson. He hasn’t even entered the equation yet, and that’s the part dynasty managers need to pay attention to. If Shough is already producing at a QB5 level before Tyson is contributing, there is at least a reasonable argument that the ceiling hasn’t been reached.<\/p>\n

Shough was also overlooked coming into the NFL, which makes this particularly interesting from a dynasty standpoint. We have seen plenty of quarterbacks put together two huge fantasy weeks. What I want to see now is whether Shough continues to look like a quarterback who belongs in the long-term conversation.<\/p>\n

Right now: Gold.<\/strong> I’m not saying he’s Josh Allen. I’m saying the traits that make fantasy managers excited about Allen \u2014 arm strength, mobility, and the ability to create plays \u2014 are showing up in Shough’s game. That’s enough for me to keep buying the possibility.<\/p>\n

Bryce Young \u2014 QB2<\/h2>\n

Verdict: FOOL’S GOLD<\/h3>\n

This is where it gets interesting. Bryce Young is currently the QB2 in our scoring, and I don’t want to take anything away from what he has done. The former No. 1 overall pick is absolutely cooking right now. Young threw for 287 yards and three touchdowns in Carolina’s 34-3 destruction of Atlanta in Week 2. That’s a fantastic fantasy performance.<\/p>\n

The problem is the dynasty question: can QB2 production continue? That’s a much harder question. Young’s current supporting cast includes players such as Jalen Coker and Darren Waller, and that’s where I start getting nervous about sustaining this kind of fantasy pace. Coker is currently producing like a WR1. That’s great if you own him. But it also creates an interesting dynamic. Can Young continue putting up QB1 numbers while leaning heavily on players who weren’t necessarily expected to be the foundation of this offense? That’s what I’m watching.<\/p>\n

The former No. 1 pick has plenty of talent, and I’m not declaring this a fluke. But dynasty is about separating what happened from what is sustainable. Right now, I’m not ready to treat Bryce Young’s QB2 standing as his new dynasty baseline. Two weeks can create enormous value swings. If somebody is valuing Young like he has suddenly become a locked-in long-term QB1, I would at least be asking questions.<\/p>\n

For me: Fool’s Gold until we see more.<\/strong> That’s not a prediction that he will fail. It’s simply saying that the current fantasy ranking has moved much faster than my long-term dynasty valuation.<\/p>\n

Kenneth Walker \u2014 RB2<\/h2>\n

Verdict: GOLD<\/h3>\n

This one might be my favorite of the group. Kenneth Walker looks like exactly what Kansas City wanted when they brought him in, and now we have two weeks of evidence.<\/p>\n

Walker entered 2026 coming off a postseason run that earned him Super Bowl LX MVP honors, and the Chiefs made him their featured back. Through two games, the results are ridiculous. Walker has 290 rushing yards on 47 carries, averaging 6.17 yards per carry, while also contributing nine catches for 79 yards and a receiving touchdown. Week 2 alone? 117 rushing yards plus 61 receiving yards. That’s 178 yards from scrimmage.<\/p>\n

And this is the part that matters for dynasty: it isn’t just the fantasy points. He looks like the missing piece in Kansas City’s offense. The Chiefs don’t need Walker to be a 25-touch running back every week for him to be extremely valuable. They need him to be explosive, efficient, and involved in the passing game. That’s exactly what we’re seeing.<\/p>\n

After two weeks, Walker is currently RB2 in our scoring. I’m buying it. Gold.<\/strong> He’s also not some random two-week breakout. He has already demonstrated that he can be an NFL-caliber feature back, and Kansas City has given him an opportunity that can dramatically change his dynasty value.<\/p>\n

D’Andre Swift \u2014 RB5<\/h2>\n

Verdict: FOOL’S GOLD<\/h3>\n

This one is much tougher, because Swift looks good. Really good. And that’s why I’m calling it Fool’s Gold rather than simply dismissing him.<\/p>\n

Swift opened the season with 124 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while Kyle Monangai also exploded for 100 rushing yards and a 61-yard touchdown in Chicago’s Week 1 win. The Bears became just the eighth team in NFL history to have two running backs each rush for 100-plus yards in their season opener. Swift currently sits as the RB5 in our scoring.<\/p>\n

The problem? Kyle Monangai. Monangai doesn’t look like a backup who is simply there to spell Swift. He looks explosive. He looks powerful. And he looks like a player the Bears could continue finding ways to use. That’s important in dynasty. Swift is still the more established name, but Monangai is younger and has already shown enough ability to make this a legitimate committee question. And remember, Monangai isn’t sitting at some irrelevant fantasy ranking \u2014 he’s already inside the top 20 at the position in our scoring. That’s the problem.<\/p>\n

If Swift were dominating while the other running back looked ordinary, I’d feel very differently. Instead, Chicago has two backs who can make plays. So while I’m happy to ride Swift if I have him, I’m not treating his current RB5 ranking as a new long-term dynasty reality.<\/p>\n

For me: Fool’s Gold.<\/strong> Not because Swift isn’t good, but because the situation may not be as clean as the fantasy ranking makes it appear.<\/p>\n

Jalen Coker \u2014 WR5<\/h2>\n

Verdict: FOOL’S GOLD \u2014 FOR NOW<\/h3>\n

This one may end up making me look stupid. And that’s OK. That’s what makes dynasty interesting.<\/p>\n

Jalen Coker is currently the WR5 in our scoring. That’s incredible. But I’m still asking myself: can he keep this up? Coker is producing while playing with Bryce Young, which makes the situation even more fascinating. I’m not saying Coker isn’t talented. I’m saying I don’t know if I’m ready to value him like a locked-in dynasty WR1.<\/p>\n

The biggest problem for me is sitting right beside him: Tetairoa McMillan. McMillan is the player I still believe has the higher long-term ceiling. If Coker continues outscoring him every week, eventually we have to stop calling it a hot start. At some point, production becomes the evidence. But we’re not there yet. That’s why Coker lands in my Fool’s Gold category \u2014 at least for now.<\/p>\n

The other problem? I still don’t completely trust the Bryce Young situation. If Young continues playing like a QB1, Coker’s value could explode. If Young comes back toward the quarterback we expected before the season, Coker’s current fantasy ranking could come crashing down with it.<\/p>\n

So if you roster Coker? Enjoy it. Absolutely. But if someone is already valuing him as though the next five years are guaranteed to look like the first two weeks, I’d be interested in seeing what that offer looks like.<\/p>\n

The Dynasty Lesson After Week 2<\/h2>\n

This is why I love dynasty football. The standings tell you what happened. Dynasty management requires you to figure out what it means.<\/p>\n

Tyler Shough is producing. Bryce Young is producing. Kenneth Walker is producing. D’Andre Swift is producing. Jalen Coker is producing. But those five situations are not equal, and that’s where dynasty managers separate themselves.<\/p>\n

Don’t automatically sell every player who starts fast. Don’t automatically buy every player who starts fast. And don’t automatically dismiss a player because his production doesn’t match your preseason opinion. Instead, ask:<\/p>\n
