The Worst Sleeper Pick You’ll Make This Year (And You’ll Thank Me)

I’m not even going to put his name in the headline because you wouldn’t have clicked. He’s that well known for being a bust. But stay with me on the facts.

This guy plays with arguably the best QB in football. His starting RB is a legit between-the-tackles runner, not a receiving threat eating into the passing game. The TE is old, fading, maybe retiring soon. The WR1 is a certified knucklehead who is a bad decision away from missing games. The WR2 has flashed but can’t stay on the field. The other six bodies on the depth chart are complete unknowns.

Now here’s what you probably do not realize: he’s one of the fastest receivers in the league. He’s tall. And if everything above lined up exactly right, there’s a real path to him being the WR1 on his own team. He just signed a 2-year extension. Last season he averaged 23 yards a catch (highest in NFL), with 16% of his catches going for touchdowns.

And you can still get him in the 18th round.

Mahomes is the QB. Kenneth Walker III is the bell-cow back. Rashee Rice is the knucklehead. Xavier Worthy is the inconsistent guy. That leaves one name: Tyquan Thornton.

Watch his highlights from last year. It’s absurd.

He’s not buried on the depth chart either — go check it yourself: he’s currently listed as a starter on the Chiefs’ official depth chart.
