Fantasy football has become more automated than ever. Need help? Submit a ticket. Have a draft issue? Send an email. Technical problem during your draft? Wait for a response and hope someone gets back to you before your pick expires.
For many fantasy football companies, that’s simply the way things work today. But at Masters Fantasy Football Leagues, we’ve always believed there is a better way.
Since 2008, one of the cornerstones of our business has been something that seems increasingly rare in today’s fantasy sports world: real commissioners, real support, and real people.
When owners join a Masters league, they’re not simply entering another online contest. They’re joining a community backed by experienced commissioners who understand that fantasy football isn’t just a game. It’s an investment of time, money, preparation, and passion. And when something important happens, owners deserve more than an automated response. They deserve someone who answers the phone.
Fantasy Football Is Personal
Most fantasy football owners spend months preparing for draft day. They study rankings, watch training camp reports, and debate sleepers and busts. Some spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars to enter competitive leagues.
When draft day finally arrives, it isn’t just another day on the calendar. It’s one of the most anticipated days of the year. That’s why we take it seriously.
Our live drafts feature experienced commissioners who actively oversee the process from start to finish. If an owner has a question, experiences a technical issue, or simply needs help, we’re available — not tomorrow, not next week, but right then.
Sometimes that means answering a simple rules question. Sometimes it means helping an owner navigate a technical issue. And sometimes it means going far beyond what anyone would reasonably expect.
The Hurricane Draft
One of my favorite memories as a commissioner involved two brothers participating in a startup draft. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans. A hurricane had knocked out power in their area. No internet. No reliable access. No way to participate in one of the most important drafts they had ever joined.
For many fantasy platforms, that would have been the end of the story: miss your picks, good luck, hope things work out.
That’s not how we do things at Masters. Instead, I spent the draft on the phone with them — pick after pick, round after round. We conducted their draft selections over the phone and entered the picks manually on their behalf.
Hours later, despite a major power outage and circumstances completely outside their control, they completed their startup draft without losing the opportunity to build the team they envisioned.
That’s not because we’re special. It’s because we believe commissioners should actually help owners when they need it.
The Delivery Room Draft
Another story has stuck with me over the years. A father was participating in one of our drafts when life suddenly became much more important than fantasy football. His wife unexpectedly went into labor.
As he rushed to the hospital, he called us. Not because he was worried about fantasy football, but because he knew we’d answer. For portions of that draft, we worked directly with him over the phone to make selections while he focused on what actually mattered: being there for his family.
Obviously, no one is suggesting fantasy football should come before real life. In fact, it’s the exact opposite. Life happens. Emergencies happen. Unexpected situations happen. Having a commissioner who understands that reality can make all the difference.
Years later, I still remember that draft — not because of who won, but because it reminded me what customer service is really supposed to look like.
Ready to Join a Masters League?
Masters runs two draft formats to fit your schedule and style:
- Live Draft Leagues — Real-time drafts with an active commissioner on the line from first pick to last.
- Email Draft Leagues — Draft on your schedule, pick by pick, with no clock pressure.
All-in pricing. LeagueSafe payouts. A real commissioner who answers the phone.
Technology Is Great. Human Support Is Better.
Don’t get me wrong. Technology has improved fantasy football tremendously: online draft rooms, mobile apps, instant scoring updates, automated waivers, and league management tools. All of those things make the fantasy experience better.
But technology should enhance customer service, not replace it. Too many companies have removed the human element entirely. Everything becomes a ticket. Everything becomes an automated response. Everything becomes someone else’s problem.
At Masters, we still believe fantasy football works best when experienced commissioners remain actively involved. Technology helps us run leagues. People help us build relationships. And relationships are the reason many of our owners have been with us for years.
Nearly Two Decades of Experience
Since 2008, we’ve seen just about everything imaginable: power outages, internet failures, weather emergencies, travel delays, medical emergencies, draft day confusion, last-minute owner replacements — you name it.
Experience matters because problems rarely arrive at convenient times. When something goes wrong during a draft, owners don’t want to hear that someone will look into it in 48 hours. They want answers. They want solutions. They want confidence. That’s exactly what experienced commissioners provide.
More Than Customer Service
The truth is that the live commissioner advantage isn’t really about customer service at all. It’s about trust.
Owners trust us with their entry fees. Owners trust us with their league experience. Owners trust us with something they’ve often spent months preparing for. That trust is earned one interaction at a time, one phone call at a time, one solved problem at a time, and one successful season at a time.
It’s one of the reasons Masters has remained one of fantasy football’s longest-running communities — and one of the reasons so many owners continue returning year after year.
The Masters Difference
At Masters Fantasy Football Leagues, we have never viewed commissioners as an afterthought. They’re part of the experience. They’re part of the community. They’re part of the reason owners feel comfortable joining leagues year after year.
Could we automate more? Probably. Would it be easier? Absolutely. But fantasy football isn’t just about software. It’s about people. It’s about competition. It’s about relationships. And sometimes it’s about helping two brothers draft through a hurricane or helping a new father make selections from a hospital waiting room.
Those moments may never appear on a balance sheet, but they represent exactly who we are.
Since 2008, Masters has built its reputation on competitive leagues, trusted payouts, and active fantasy communities. Behind all of that is something even more important: real commissioners who genuinely care about the owners they serve.
Because when draft day arrives, knowing a real person is there to help isn’t just a convenience. It’s an advantage. And it’s one of the biggest reasons Masters remains different nearly two decades later.

At this point, you’ve probably realized that the biggest difference at Masters isn’t our software, our league formats, or even our payouts. It’s our people.
For nearly two decades, we’ve built Masters Fantasy Football Leagues around the idea that fantasy football should be personal. When owners need help, they should be able to talk to a real commissioner who actually cares about their experience.
So here’s my challenge: if you’re considering joining a Masters league and have questions, don’t fill out a support ticket. Don’t wait for an automated response. Call me or text me.
